Congratulations Dr. Hawkins
Posted 2/7/20

Ardenwood Elementary is fortunate to have Dr. Hawkins as our intermediate Science Specialist teacher.  This last summer, Dr. Hawkins was selected to work as an Ignited Fellow at Stanford University.  The Ignited Summer Fellowship Program places eligible K-16 teachers of all subjects into high-performance work sites for the summer. Teachers work full-time for eight weeks, complete a project for their Fellowship Hosts, and create and implement curriculum based on their summer work experience.  Dr. Hawkins worked at Stanford University this summer and was coached to translate her experience into an university-inspired curriculum for her students to explore in the Ardenwood Science Laboratory.  The topic of her research was Managing Thermal Energy Via Surface Emissivity.

Dr. Hawkins presented her research at the national Partners in Science meeting in January 2020, where K-12 teachers from across the country came together to share their science expertise and learn from each other.  It was a wonderful celebration and we were so glad to have Ardenwood Elementary School represented!
