Musical Accolades Given to Ardenwood Dragons

During the month of February, two Ardenwood Dragons received special recognition for their musical talents.


Ryan Lu (5th grade) participated in the 28th Annual United States Open Music Competition (USOMC).  Since 1992, The United States Open Music Competition has promoted the best of classical treasury among young musicians through their annual piano competition.  This year's competition had over 1,700 contestants from around the world, performing in 156 different events.  Ryan won First Place in the Treasury of Romantic Composers (Intermediate Level) event by playing the beautiful masterpiece of “Valse Op.34 #2 in A Minor” by Frederic Chopin.  Also, at the concert where the First Place winners performed, Ryan was chosen as one of the ten performers who received special recognition as an “Outstanding Gold Medalists of 2020”.


Ahaan Basu (4th grade) performed in the Naatya Raaga, a prestigious Bay Area classical Indian music competition organized by One School At A Time (OSAT).  OSAT is a non-profit focused on helping rural schools in India.  Ahaan Basu was part of a six member team from his music school, Sur Bhakti School of Music, that won 2nd prize in the 8-12 age group at the 20th annual Naatya Raaga on Feb 23rd.
